The permit process, the fee schedule and the inspection regime are all Mississauga’s own, so Toronto’s underpinning permit fee of $11.89 per linear metre plus a $206.53 minimum simply does not apply to your project.
The engineering requirement is the same in substance — underpinning is structural work and needs stamped drawings from a structural engineer — but confirm current fees and requirements with Mississauga directly rather than assuming Toronto figures carry over.
And the subsidy does not apply either
Worth repeating on this page because it affects budgeting. The City of Toronto Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy, paying up to $6,650 toward backwater valves, sump pumps and battery backup, is a Toronto programme.
